Full Job Description

We are seeking a Chemical Developer to become an integral part of our deployment team! This is an excellent opportunity for an early career individual to get a fast and broad experience in a global industrial environment.

You will be responsible for configuring, implementing, and supporting advanced process control solutions at our client sites. Activities include: software configuration, software tool development, process/control troubleshooting, software troubleshooting and project documentation, interfacing with business staff, operating staff, global team and SME’s, and training of client personnel. In addition, you will be responsible for development, testing and implementation of advanced process control software per functional specifications developed by the Subject Matter Experts (SME).

You should have the capacity to learn new process control functionality and software, and work in a team environment with internal and external personnel. Given the broad and global nature of this work, you must be flexible, comfortable with uncertainty, good communicator, and great team player.

The role will include ongoing operations support. Occasional international and domestic travel (up to 50% annually) to other sites may be required to assist in implementation of new technologies, client training and support, and new facility start-up.

Responsibilities:

  • Development, testing and implementation of process control technology software per SME’s directions
  • Able to coach and present process control improvements to multicultural audience.
  • Frequent support of local and remote facilities to troubleshoot process control problems.
  • Work with peers in the testing and implementation of advanced process control improvements.
  • Ability to track and drive advanced control projects and fulfill the schedule requirements with multicultural and globally located individuals.
  • Refinement and streamlining of work processes, tools, and procedures to improve product quality and more efficiently develop, configure, and support advanced process control systems.

Goals and Competencies:

  • Develop/implement control schemes that improve control and optimize plant operations.
  • Provide written and verbal communication across multifunctional teams
  • Provide control systems expertise and troubleshooting for improved operational performance.
  • Participate in the design and installation of a new process control system.
  • Develop, test and implement APC software based on provided functional specifications.
  • Ability to document and present efforts, especially for migration of technology to other plants.
  • Excellent computer skills with the ability to analyze and change process control software.

Full Job Description

We are seeking a Software Developer to become an integral part of our team! You will be responsible for creating and modifying computer application software or specialized utility programs. The candidate will work closely with the software development team including platform architects and software engineers as well as the process control and data analytics Subject Matter Experts (SME). The role requires working and communicating across the company with business staff, operating staff, lab and pilot scale staff, global team and SME’s, and training personnel.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze user needs and develop software solutions
  • Work with project manager or product owner and customers to meet specification needs
  • Recommend software upgrades to optimize operational efficiency
  • Collaborate with other developers to design and optimize code
  • Coach and present improvements to multidisciplinary and multicultural audience.
  • Create functional specs, flowcharts and user guides for new and existing programs
  • Document all programming tasks and procedures
  • Perform routine software maintenance

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in software development, computer engineering, or other related fields
  • Strong development experience within Microsoft .NET framework: VB.NET, C#, SQL, Windows Presentation foundation (WPF), Windows Communication Foundation (WCF)
  • Deadline and detail-oriented
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Great to have: Familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL, Oracle, and SQL Server
  • Great to have: Familiarity with AspenTech technology suite (IP21 Data Historian, Process Explorer, SqlPlus) or equivalent a bonus.
